Giulia Boccafogli

A young designer from Bologna and the daughter of an architect and an artisan, Giulia Boccafogli decided to follow her artistic nature after completing her Classical Studies and obtaining a degree in Architecture. She devoted herself completely to creating her handmade jewellery creations. Her passion blossomed together with her blog, "Giulielleria", allowing her to gain fame and admiration in Italy.

Her first pieces were made of copper wire and crystals, although over time she began to specialise in leather, working with scraps of leather to add an ethical aspect to her production.

Her creations also include materials including steel, silver, brass and natural rubbers. The techniques she uses are unconventional and embody the need to create without following predetermined rules.

My pieces, due to my classical education, always hark back to literary, artistic or cinematographic references.

Her leather pieces are completely handcrafted and inspired by eco-sustainable principles. Cuts and seams are totally handmade, there is no use of die-cutting, and glues are non-toxic, all translating into a lengthy production process.

Her works are the result of careful and laborious research that includes collections and original pieces that, after being created near the shores of Lake Como, are destined to make their way around the world.
