STUDIO 65

Franco Audrito was born in Balangero (Turin) in 1943. He lives and works in Turin, Riyadh and Jeddah. In 1965 he founded Studio65 along with a group of Italian artists and students and in 1969 he graduated in architecture in Turin.

In 1969, Nanà Audrito became part of Studio65. Until 1975, they designed ironic and irreverent objects, interiors and architectural design, embodying the avant-garde aspect of radical design that revolutionised the language of design and architecture between 1965 and 1975.

"Studio65 experience in Turin's historical and international context: imagination in power."

In 1976, they ventured to the Middle East, opening an atelier in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and winning competitions. In 1985, Electa published the first monographon Studio65's design and architecture projects. In 1995, Arca published the monograph "Studio65", then republished it in 1998 and 2000 with the title of "Franco Audrito - Studio65".

The creations and projects of Franco Audrito, Nanà Audrito and Studio65 have been featured in various magazines and newspapers worldwide. The breakdown of cultural and linguistic patterns, dominant in European and overseas social, political, youth, workers and artistic movements, remained a steady theme in the production and creativity of Studio65 in Turin and internationally starting in the mid-1970s.

After approximately 50 years of work in the field of architecture and design, Studio 65 in Turin launched an ambitious cultural project in 2014 by establishing an association called Il Mercante di Nuvole, located at Via Valprato 68 in Turin at the picturesque premises of the former Darsena Dora.
