Cab 412 - Silla de cuero: "Era un nuevo tipo de silla, construida totalmente en cuero, muy clonada desde entonces". Así describe Mario Bellini Cab, un éxito de ventas que diseñó en la década de 1970 y que ahora es una pieza emblemática de la colección I Contemporanei de Cassina.

Cab fue la primera silla que presentó una estructura de cuero independiente, inspirada en cómo nuestra piel se ajusta a nuestro esqueleto. La tapicería consta de dieciséis piezas de cuero de silla de montar. Se someten a catorce procedimientos discretos, también a mano. Las piezas se cosen entre sí sólo cuando se han recortado sus bordes exteriores para garantizar un ajuste perfecto. Una vez montada, la funda se fija al esqueleto de acero de la silla y se sujeta mediante un cierre de cremallera, como en una prenda hecha a medida.

Hoy este modelo se adapta y expande para satisfacer las necesidades contemporáneas. Ahora está disponible un modelo XL, 5 cm más profundo, y una versión Baby, realizados con el mismo cuidado artesanal. También están disponibles las nuevas pieles de silla Plus en anilina pura y algunas versiones con efecto degradado realizadas a mano sobre base natural.

Recognized as an influential figure in the world of contemporary design. The Italian designer and architect was born in Milan in 1935. He gained his architecture degree from Milan Polytechnic in 1959 and began his career with Olivetti. Mario Bellini, has left a significant impact on the industry. Throughout his long career, his involvement in material and technological advancements has paved the way for new possibilities in design.

Mario Bellini has partnered with renowned Italian and international brands like Cassina, Brionvega, Olivetti, and Renault, among others. His collaborations have resulted in the creation of revolutionary products, which include the iconic TOTEM radio for Brionvega, and masterpieces for Cassina such as; Leather Chair CAB 412, Leather Armchair CAB 413 and Glass and Wood Coffee Table LA ROTONDA. Bellini's involvement extends beyond product design to remarkable architectural projects- notably the Tokyo Design Center in Japan, the Department of Islamic Art (Louvre in Paris), and the refurbishing of the International Air Terminal at Rome-Fiumicino in Italy.

The Triennale di Milano has also awarded him a golden medal in 2015 and honored him with a dedicated exhibition in 2017.
