Ron Arad asiste a la academia de arte en Jerusalén y, en 1974, se establece en Londres donde rápidamente desarrolló intereses artísticos y culturales fuera de la arquitectura. Su trabajo se orienta cada vez más hacia el diseño y el uso artístico no retórico de los materiales. En 1981, junto con Dennis Groves y Caroline Thorman, fundó One Off, la agencia de diseño que hizo su exitoso debut con un conjunto de muebles de acero tubular. Como escultor y artesano, produce muebles que son emocionales y sensuales, así como agresivamente ligeros y prácticos.
