Charlotte Perriand conçoit le paravent Paravent Ambassade en 1969 comme un véritable hommage au Japon. Le résultat est une petite composition architecturale composée de 313 blocs de bois massif travaillés à la main, assemblés un par un, maintenus ensemble par des tirants verticaux et séparés par des ancres. Un chef-d'œuvre de persévérance qui, grâce au grand nombre de blocs, permet de modeler l'écran dans les formes les plus diverses et d'articuler son mouvement avec une sinuosité comme celle d'une micro-maille.
