Mann Singh was born in India in 1977. His projects reflect contemporary India: a mix of tradition and modernity, craftsmanship and high technology. "Mann Singh comes from afar, from Sikh lands in northern India. His design is not globalized. Shapes and materials belong to his culture, but they acquire a universal meaning, like the woven silver baskets, the bowls of stiffened leaves to be lifted with sacred gestures and the tree candlesticks."
