NEW ARRIVALS by Chiara Colmegna
The brand offers designer lamps and lighting, all handcrafted in Italy
We’re excited to have recently onboarded emerging lighting brand Formaminima, a company founded in the northern Italian city Trieste, Italy by Caterina Vrabec. We’ve added three collections of limited-edition lamps by the brand: the Lamp/One collection of hanging lamps in marble, wood and brass; the Lamp/Two collection of table lamps; and the Mirror/Zero collection.
The use of marble in interior design
The contemporary essence that embodies each Formaminima piece makes use of locally available materials including glass, glass, brass, wood and porcelain. But the star of the designs by Formaminima is marble with its beautiful veining. Often used to create luxurious settings, marble is glossy and gleaming and transforms spaces with its elegance.
Among the natural marbles used for the brand’s collections are grey Collemandina and Calacatta marble, which are extracted from quarries in the Tuscany area; Giallo Reale Rosato marble from the Veneto region; Nero Portoro Vena Oro marble from the Portovenere area; Palissandro marble from the Dolomites; and Arabescato Orobico marble from the Bergamo area of Nothern Italy.
In Formaminima’s collections, this noble material is combined with brass with a satin finish as well as olive and walnut wood, resulting in stunning limited-edition designer lighting. Formaminima lamps, home decor and accessories are the ultimate expression of the exquisite taste and attention to detail that Italian artisans are renowned for.
