Candido Baldacchino

Turin-born photographer Candido Baldacchino has a portfolio that dates back to the early 1970s

His initial primarily color photography with landscapes and portraits as subjects gave way over the years to black and white photography, thanks to its more introspective capacity. He also works with simple cameras, which he says give free rein to his creativity, and his style is very closely linked to street photography.

His works have been part of a wide selection of prestigious exhibitions in Italy and abroad, and some of his photographs have become part of permanent collections in private and national galleries, including Accademia Carrara of Bergamo; Diaframma-Kodak Cultura in Milan; FIAFI in Turin; Millennium Images Limited in London; and the National Library of France in Paris. A great number of pictures he has taken have been chosen as book covers, and his latest publications are Silent Forms (2008); Background (2010); Coasts (2011); and Visual Perceptions (2014).

In 2019 he was awarded the IFI award by FIAF, the Italian Federation of Photographic Associations.
