The Ashwood Chair SUPERLEGGERA, designed by Gio Ponti for Cassina, is handcrafted in Italy.
Since its introduction in 1957, the 699 Superleggera wood chair has become an iconic masterpiece that exemplifies modernity and extreme artisanal elegance. This chair represents the innovative vision of the architect combined with cutting-edge experimentation by the Meda-based company.
Gio Ponti dedicated years to perfecting the design, notably reducing the triangular section of the legs to just 18 millimeters, achieving a remarkable minimum weight of only 1,700 grams. For the padded seat version, the upholstery is removable.
