Sure to be a statement piece in any space, peacock chair PAVO Brown was designed by Patricia Urquiola and was manufactured in Italy by Driade.

This chair has a painted steel structure covered in brown wicker and has a cushion upholstered in black leather.

Inspired by a fascination for big rattan and wicker armchairs that are common in South-Eastern Asia, Patricia Urquiola created a sophisticated version with this chair. Volumes expand, braids are doubled, and patterns appear unexpectedly and gracefully fragmentary with the seductive tactility of natural materials.

Elevating Abstract Spaces with her Unique Designs

Patricia Urquiola, a celebrated designer and architect originally from Spain, is renowned for her inventive and diverse approach to design. She studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and further pursued her education at the Milan Polytechnic, where she completed her degree in 1989. Under the guidance of Achille Castiglioni, her supervisor, Urquiola's time in Milan significantly influenced her design style and philosophy.

Throughout her illustrious career, Urquiola has collaborated with numerous esteemed design brands, including Cassina, Driade, Serralunga, and San Lorenzo, among others. Her designs showcase a fusion of contemporary and traditional elements, characterized by organic shapes, vibrant colors, and a playful spirit of experimentation. She effortlessly combines different materials and textures to create visually appealing and functional pieces.

Urquiola's creative portfolio spans various design disciplines, encompassing furniture, lighting, textiles, and interior design. Notably, her work with Cassina as their creative director since 2015 has resulted in remarkable pieces such as the SESTIERE Vase and the Armchair DUDET, which would complement an abstract space beautifully. Her creations have received international acclaim, earning her prestigious awards like the Designer of the Year at the Maison Objet Paris fair in 2013 and the Order of Isabella the Catholic in Spain in 2010. Furthermore, her designs have become part of permanent collections in renowned museums worldwide, including the MoMa in New York and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
