Driade

Driade was founded in 1968 in Piacenza by Enrico Astori and his wife Adelaide and sister Antonia. Since its nascence, this furniture design company has also been a refined aesthetic laboratory and collaborates with a wide-ranging group of iconic international designers today, thanks to the project and their creations for the brand.

These designers include Antonia Astori, Philippe Starck, Borek Sipek, Ross Lovegrove, Kazuo Sejima, Toyo Ito, Tokujin Yoshioka, Enzo Mari, Nanda Vigo, Paola Navone, Xavier Lust, and Fabio Novembre.

A refined aesthetic laboratory

Driade has also created an international name for itself thanks to its communication strategy developed by Adelaide Astori’s graphic design studio. In 1996, the studio created the Driade Edizioni bi-monthly magazine (directed by Cristina Morozzi and with graphic design by Adelaide Astori) to tell the story of the company’s various designs.

Along with the brand’s keys project Oikos, a modular system designed by Antonia Astori, its collection has come to include a rich repertoire of other original pieces with a strong visual impact and decorative objects in glass, porcelain and various metals, marking its distinctive style that is tinged with touches of Baroque.

One of the company’s signature pieces is the Nemo armchair, designed by the brand’s art director Fabio Novembre and made with the rotational moulding process to resemble a human face. Since 2013, the company has been part of the Italian Creation Group’s portfolio
