Winery Feudi di San Gregorio: Making sustainability a reality in the winemaking industry

The recently-held fourth edition of innovative design fair Edit Napoli, which was curated by Domitilla Dardi and Emilia Petrucelli, was full of exhibits, initiatives and events, one of which was a Visionary Chef dinner, which is part of a series of food and wine events organized by Italian food and wine guide Gambero Rosso and winery Feudi di San Gregorio.
This Campania region edition dinner – which was held at restaurant Santi e Leoni in the town of Nola for a select group of guests – was prepared by chefs Luigi Salomone and Roberto Allocc and included a selection of Feudi di San Gregorio wines.
Luigi Salomone, who is currently a chef at Santi e Leoni, which opened in 2020, completed his studies in the hospitality industry and worked for a period in Sweden. In 2015, he began managing restaurant Piazzetta Milù in the southern Italian city of Castellammare di Stabia, where he earned his first Michelin star. The second chef in charge of the Visionary Chef dinner was Roberto Allocca, who was born in Naples and worked in various restaurants before arriving at Marennà, Feudi di San Gregorio’s restaurant. In 2011, he won recognition as the top emerging chef in Italy for his ability to use his dishes to recount the history of the local region. An important part of his project and work is a vegetable garden right off his kitchen where he experiments with a variety of different crops.
Feudi di San Gregorio’s mission and philosophy focus on sustainability throughout the winery’s entire supply chain, with the goal of building a community of chefs, restaurateurs and consumers who share a passion for beauty.
In May of 2021, Feudi di San Gregorio became a benefit company and included in its by-laws its commitment to safeguard and develop the beauty and the environmental, social and cultural heritage of the Irpinian territory and its community. In June of this year, the company obtained B Corp certification. In the early 2000s, Massimo Vignelli was entrusted with designing the winery’s labels with his unique and refined style.
