DESIGN ITALY IN THE WORLD
MIAMI
There are many ways to travel... using your imagination is one of them! In this blog, I will try to highlight the qualities of design that is “Made in Italy” - an unmistakable concept of quality, passion, and innovation - as a premise for its promotion.
In a game of fantasy, but also of research, I have created mood boards on different styles of living around the world, that showcase the innate predisposition of Italian design to experiment with forms, colors, functionality, and materials. This virtuous talent, combined with the harmonious ability to give and take from different cultures, constitutes the prerogative for its success on the international design scene.
Miami is a hub for fashion, design, and culture. From the Cuban flair of Little Havana to the more European influence of the Art-Déco Historic District with its characteristic pastel-colored buildings from the 1930s and 1940s. Museums and tropical gardens overlook the white sand of South Beach. One of the great cultural drivers of this city is undoubtedly design, which has settled in the famous Miami Design District.
Let's imagine together on which pieces and colors a Miami-inspired home could be furnished with.
LIVING AREA
Pastel colors in contrast with characterful chromatic accents blend with a mix of classicism and contemporary taste.
The iconic coffee table ‘Traccia’, which the artist Meret Oppenheim named "Bird Leg Table" due to its evident resemblance, perfectly complements the Proust armchair designed by Alessandro Mendini
in a postmodern style, with a declared eighteenth-century form.
DINING AREA
The play of contrasts and provocations continues in the dining area with a sculptural table in aluminum and glass fusion by Jeff Miller, and the soft velvet seats featuring button-tufted upholstery by Matteo Cibic.
BEDROOM AREA
How many times have we dreamt of a flying bed from which we can lazily observe the world?
That's precisely the sensation that the tousled and lightweight bed by Claudio Bitetti gives us, around which lights orbit like satellites and a goddess is reflected in the Milo mirror by Carlo Mollino.
At the foot of the bed, acting as a room divider, is the experimental design bookcase with vibrant colors by Studio 65.
A dream, a surreal reference to antiquity, a mockery of serious bourgeois bookcases. It is a work of art.
