Recognized as an influential figure in the world of contemporary design. The Italian designer and architect was born in Milan in 1935. He gained his architecture degree from Milan Polytechnic in 1959 and began his career with Olivetti. Mario Bellini, has left a significant impact on the industry. Mario Bellini has partnered with renowned Italian and international brands like Cassina, Brionvega, Olivetti, and Renault, among others. His collaborations have resulted in the creation of revolutionary products, which include the iconic TOTEM radio for Brionvega, and masterpieces for Cassina such as; Leather Chair CAB 412, Leather Armchair CAB 413 and Glass and Wood Coffee Table LA ROTONDA. Bellini's involvement extends beyond product design to remarkable architectural projects- notably the Tokyo Design Center in Japan, the Department of Islamic Art (Louvre in Paris), and the refurbishing of the International Air Terminal at Rome-Fiumicino in Italy.
Bellini's works have a sense of harmony, crafted with elegant lines and thoughtful proportions. His design portfolio encompasses various objects, including technological innovations, furniture pieces, and urban designs. The Museum of Modern Arts (MoMa) in New York appreciates his artistic legacy through a dedicated permanent exhibition housing 25 of his iconic works. Furthermore, Bellini's talent has been recognized with 8 Compasso d’Oro (Golden Compass) awards. The Triennale di Milano has also awarded him a golden medal in 2015 and honored him with a dedicated exhibition in 2017.
