CAB 412 is a Chair in saddle leather : constructed totally out of leather, a best-seller that he designed in the 1970s by Mario Bellini, which is now a signature piece in Cassina’s I Contemporanei collection.

Cab was the first chair with a free-standing leather structure, inspired by skin over skeleton. It uses sixteen saddle leather pieces, hand-processed in fourteen steps. The pieces are sewn only after trimming edges for fit. The cover is attached to a steel skeleton and secured with a zipper, like tailored clothing.

This model adapts and expands to meet contemporary needs. It is available a Maxi model, 5cm deeper, and a petit version, made with the same careful craftsmanship. Also available are new Plus saddle leathers in pure aniline, and some versions with a gradient effect by hand on a natural basis.
