TRIPOLINA DESIGN

TRIPOLINA DESIGN
Tripolina Design is the project of a company born from the experience of two generations of Italian furniture manufacturers and retailers. Its goal is to create incomparable, imperfect and unique items, as only Italian craftsmanship can do. Easy transportable folding chairs that can be always by your side in your car, on your boat, on holiday and in your whole life, following you from home to home. Pieces of furniture that can fly with you on the plane. Timeless accessories that differentiate your elegance and taste. “We bring old projects back to life thanks to the experienced hands of Italian artisans!” Although the real creator remains unknown, the story tells that the tripolina chair was patented in 1877 by Joseph B. Fendy and it was first introduced to the public at the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904. Surely, we know that the tripolina chair became famous thanks to its use by the English army during the military campaigns of the 19th century. Over the years, the old folding chair has inspired great designers and great projects including the Butterfly Chair, known as the BFK Chair, an Argentinian project by Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy of 1938 and picked up by Knoll for its 80th anniversary, and the wonderful Kenia Chair by Vico Magistretti.
