Marble and wood tray MAIDDA was designed in 2020 by Margherita Alioto and Mimma Occhino for KIMANO and was produced in Italy.
This tray was created to have a dual function on our tables. It consists of a sliding cutting board in laser-engraved beech wood, perfect for cutting bread or cuts of cured meats, and a marble container that serves as a bread basket and crumb tray.
The design recalls the traditional Sicilian "maidda", an object that was the centrepiece of the household, where bread was prepared and which became a container for collective meals during harvest time.
A modern reinterpretation of an unmistakable ritual, an invitation to return to the essence of things through daily gestures such as sharing food.
