Historic ceramics company Bitossi Ceramiche is all about Italian excellence and craftsmanship. Rimini Blue: ceramics collection by Bitossi Ceramiche

Sculptor and ceramics maker Aldo Londi was one of the individuals who over the years brought prestige to the Bitossi name. As the company’s artistic director from the 1940s, Londi ushered in a new creative feel to its ceramics production.

Rocchetto Vase by Aldo Londi for Bitossi Ceramiche

An example is the Rimini Blu collection – including the beautiful Rocchetto vase – which is a reflection of the close link between tradition and the local area and was inspired by the colors and reflections of this city on the Adriatic Sea. And despite being a collection produced in the 1950s, Rimini Blu is very contemporary and in perfect step with the blue trend in the design world.

Like each of Bitossi Ceramiche’s creations, each piece is handmade as part of a highly involved process that guarantees uniqueness and quality.

Harnessing tradition while looking to the future

Bitossi Ceramiche celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2021, and has embraced contemporary design’s challenge of combining aesthetics and functionality. As the company innovates, it founded the Centro Ceramico Sperimentale (experimental ceramics center) and collaborates with Italian and international designers.

Ceramic Vase CROCE GRANDE by Karim Rashid for Bitossi Ceramiche

These have included architect Ettore Sottsass, who designed the ceramic vase Vaso Calice, which is part of an elegant black and white series of vases with striking geometric forms. And in 2006, visionary designer Karim Rashid designed the Symbolik collection with its colorful and futuristic vases and sculptures. More recent collaborations include the Revolver collection by Christoph Radl, a graphic designer who worked with Ettore Sottsass for years in the 1980s.
