The value of Italian-made artisanal products
An Italian company that has maintained its ties to traditional Italian crafts is Purho Design. The challenge that fuels the company’s creativity is to create contemporary design using quality materials including Murano glass. The centuries-old tradition of creating objects with glass carries with it the magic of a language that speaks of tradition and one-of-a-kind forms.
Murano glass: Tradition and skill
Purho's collections include table lamps like beautiful lamp NORMANNA, accessories and vases that feature forms that give value to the glass and colors of the Venetian lagoon. Glass production dates back to ancient times and is still concentrated in the Venetian lagoon, especially on the island of Murano where the main furnaces are still located.
The real protagonists of this craft are the master glassmakers who use unique techniques. And Purho creates its products also thanks to collaborations with some of the most internationally acclaimed designers including Karim Rashid and Ludovica and Roberto Palomba.
International designers for Purho
Karim Rashid has created various projects for Purho Design, including a collection of vases and lamps that use Murano glass in innovative ways, creating striking effects and reflections. These products include the beautiful ornamental container KOUNTESS. And for the 2021 Milan Design Week, the company presented objects designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba that featured sinuous forms.
Purho Design ably blends Italian design and traditional craftsmanship, using Murano glass to create high-quality products in an innovative way.
