Franco Albini

Italian traditional artisanship with new forms of modernism.

Franco Albini was a prominent Neo-Rational Italian architect and designer, known for his minimalist approach and innovative use of materials. Born on October 17, 1905, in Robbiate, Italy, Albini studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, graduating in 1929.

He went on to found his own design studio in 1931, where he designed a wide range of products, from furniture and lighting to buildings and exhibitions.

Albini's iconic works include the Albini Desk, Margherita Chair, Veliero Bookcase and Radiofonografo designed in collaboration with Franca Helg. His contributions to modern Italian design earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1955 and 1979.

Franco Albini left behind a legacy that continues to inspire designers and architects around the world.
