THE BLOG#10 - LONDON by Antonella Dedini
It is the most futuristic and innovative city, but also the richest in ancient traditions and handed down rituals. London, the capital of the United Kingdom, is always very fascinating and mysterious in the eyes of a foreigner because it always manages to surprise in the impossibility of grasping its true essence. It presents itself as multifaceted, multicultural and multi-ethnic, the victim, but also the author, of transformations and evolutions that both in the field of technology and in the stylistic field have marked, tried and labeled it in history.
Literary critic Samuel Johnson as early as the 1700s wrote, "Seeing London, I have seen all that the world can show." But each contrast lives serenely by bringing us examples of how the ancient can coexist with the modern, old traditions with the most revolutionary fashions of the moment. The city is a laboratory of creativity in constant ferment and often of surreal intelligence and irony. The homes of its inhabitants reveal themselves to the attentive gaze of those able to grasp their intimate nature as layered and mysterious repositories of History.
