Wool Throw Blanket Panoramica I 01 by Serena Confalonieri for Lanificio Leo

Panoramica I 01 is a 100% Merino wool throw blanket with a jacquard weave that was designed by Serena Confalonieri and was entirely handcrafted in Italy. This blanket is part of a series of four knit pieces that double as throw blankets and tapestries thanks to their painting-like qualities.

The collection was conceived in the days that Serena Confalonieri spent in Soveria Mannelli, a small village in Calabria, Italy, with the whole Lanificio Leo family. After listening to their stories, experiencing their daily lives, and visiting the local surroundings, the designer wanted to hold on to these images upon her return home.

The collection blends the existing duality for this ancient wool mill, suspended between past and present, culture and production in an area that is bordered by both the sea and the mountains. These memories and feelings led to the idea of creating a collection that was a faithful portrait of the local land and culture of this specific region in southern Italy. Four postcards sent out to the world: souvenirs from a beautiful holiday and a warm return.
