Arflex
Thanks to a partnership with Dzine Elements multi-brand store, you can now shop Arflex products on Design Italy.
Arflex was founded at the end of the 1940s by young architects and technicians who originally worked for tire manufacturer Pirelli.
The brand has made a name for itself thanks to its highly technological and aesthetically sophisticated products and for its research and experimentation with the use of foam rubber and elastic straps in furniture.
Arflex has collaborated with prominent designers, including Zanuso, Gio Ponti, Boeri, Carboni, and Albini, allowing the company to participate in international design competitions. As a result, its products have received prestigious awards, with armchair Lady by Zanuso being awarded the Medaglia d’Oro in 1945 and sofa Sleep-O-Matic by Zanuso winning the same award in 1951.
Arflex’s chairs and armchairs are unquestionably the company’s pride and joy, including the elegant armchair Hall by Manghi from 1958 and the armchair Delfino by Carboni, one of its first experiments with animals forms. Other unique chairs include the armchair Fiorenza by Franco Albini with its retro feel and comfortable and modern Elettra and Neptunia chairs.
Roberto Manghi’s first executive furniture in 1961 allowed the company to increase its production and create office furniture as well as furnishings for the home.
In the early 2000s, iconic products were offered once again, including the sofa Marenco, designed in 1970 by architect Mario Marenco and won the 2007 Wallpaper Jaguar Design Award for the best re-designed product. In 2011, Arflex received the Elle Decoration International Design Awards for its Cloud outdoor collection, designed by architect Carlo Colombo.
Arflex offers a journey through Italy to discover its history, heritage and craftsmanship. You’ll learn about design, quality, and doing things with the heart on this journey.
